HP Switch Modules are additional components that can be added to an HP Switch in order to provide various network connectivity options. The ports on the HP Switch Module are pre-configured for network operation as soon as a functional network cable is connected. Upon powering on the switch and passing self-tests, the module is automatically configured with default settings that work well for most networks. LEDs indicate link status, network activity, connection bandwidth, and communication mode (half or full duplex). "Hot swap" functionality allows modules to be added or replaced without shutting down the switch (although changing module types in a specific slot does require resetting the switch).
