To succeed with watercolours, it is recommended to use watercolours in pans with pearlescent pigments (which have the effect of making the colour stand out on the black background). Alternatively, you can use classic watercolours in pans, mixing the white colour with all the other colours from the palette. This makes the colours stand out on the black watercolour paper as pastels. Crayons: The porous dry pastels, the soft and greasy oil pastels or the hard wax crayons, etc. are used directly on the watercolour paper, where the light colours will naturally give the greatest effect on the black background. Remember to fix the dry pastel at the end with Fixativ.
