Bitmap Books The Art of the Box - Bücher
The Art of the Box is a stunning 564-page tribute to video game box art, showcasing the work of artists from the past four decades.
The book features 26 biographies of artists who, at various points in their careers, found themselves illustrating video game packaging, including Bob Wakelin, Steve Hendricks, Ken Macklin, Tom DuBois, Steinar Lund, Marc Ericksen, Julie Bell, and Susumu Matsushita, among many others. Drawing on live interviews wherever possible, the book delves into their beginnings as artists, their inspirations and influences, the games they illustrated, and the paths their artistic careers have taken.
Each biography is paired with lavish, full-color box artwork, provided by the artists themselves, and presented without the usual logos and retail elements, allowing readers to see each piece exactly as the artist intended.
The Art of the Box covers the entire spectrum of game packaging illustration, from the early days of Atari's iconic VCS box art to contemporary collaborations between designers, CG artists, and game developers for the latest AAA games.
