Vectran is a puncture protection developed and patented by Continental, which is lighter and more flexible and provides better protection than comparable nylon puncture protection. It does not reduce the rolling resistance of the tire. Vectran is a liquid crystal polymer (LCP), like spider web, and is spun from molten Vectra liquid polymer and further processed into a multi-filament yarn. Like spider web, Vectran is highly resistant to tearing, while being lightweight.
